I heard someone say that when you learn to have gratitude in everything that the world then becomes more like 3-D to you, you see things in a way, up close that you never saw before. The beauty in the world and the blessings are then magnified like never before. I try to practice this more and more each day as I realize how much an attitude of gratitude impacts my life. I believe it allows you to see the world through new eyes and opens up the gateways to the possibilities of life, new experiences, and a soul connection to the universe like never before.
With the difficulties of life and with being so busy all the time it is sometimes hard to just slow down and not miss the moments of opportunity to be grateful. But now I purposefully stop to notice what I might have considered before the small, mundane, everyday things or moments. I absorb the beauty of the flowers outside and really see the colors for the first time; I see the blue bird that perches on the fence and take notice of him. I hear the sound of laughter like never before and realize I am grateful to be listening to the sound of joy. I am grateful for the smile from a passing stranger or the person that holds the door for me. I am grateful for the sun that shines during the day and the moon that glows for us each evening along with the stars that play for us like a symphony in the sky. How beautiful it is, I take it all in each chance I get.
Words could not accurately describe my feelings of gratitude that I now experience daily. I am grateful for the opportunity to exist, to be able to live life in this world at this time and in this place. As I go through each day I search for things to be grateful for, I refuse to focus only on what I don’t have and give thanks for what I do have and what is yet to come. I am thankful that God hears my prayers and my praises. I am grateful that He is in control of my future.
I like to end each day with a gratitude journal now and write in it each evening to end my day with being grateful for it all and giving thanks to the creator. Before I go to sleep I only want to think about all that I have to be grateful for and not what I am lacking at that time. Pure joy and peace comes from finding gratitude in everything in life, search for it, seek it and it will become a way of life that you cultivate. You will realize you have so much more to be grateful for than you could have ever imagined.
